Why it is important to join QM English Club?
To be frank, language learning is a long process, and sometimes it feels bored when you cannot practice with friends what you have learnt in the class. You need friends, mentors, and teachers to encourage you. That is why you should make every effort possible to find somebody to speak with. Queen Mary understands why an English-Speaking club is so important. An English club is your support system.
The main idea of this club is to create an ideal English speaking environment where you can learn how to build up team activities, share your own experiences to audiences, we give you freedom to speak and listen what others speaking to. We know that students often appreciate the freedom from syllabi, exams and learning objectives. Teachers usually appreciate this too!

Children and Childhood:

- What was your favourite TV programme or book when you were growing up? How does it make you feel when you see or read it again?

- Who is the youngest person you know?
- Have you ever wished you were a child again? Why/why not?
2. Online Activities
Frequent use of smartphones, we can offer few online activities for our participants, then a whole wider world can open up for you. This activity is one of our favourites.
Music and Memory:
Participants choose a piece of music that reminds them of a happy time in their life. (It does not need to be a piece of music with English lyrics.) They prepare a presentation describing:
- he song
- the place
- the people
- the time and the situation it reminds them of
- what makes the piece of music special for them
Participants can then take turns to play their songs, either from the playlist on their mobile devices or streamed off YouTube, and give their presentations.
3. TED Talks Review
This session is suitable for senior teens, adults, business groups and local people who are interested to attend. In our Ted Talk session, we will work together to view, discuss and celebrate creative ideas. As a group we will identify our passions and ask ourselves, what makes our heart beat faster?
